More about Mitsu

Mitsu Sato has spent many years perfecting his craft in the hair industry and spreading his knowledge to future stylists. Originally from Kyoto Japan, Mr. Sato MitsuSatoSmalljourneyed to Los Angeles with an interest in studying photography. He soon found himself working for the infamous Vidal Sassoon, who inspired him to attend the Sassoon Academy. Shortly after receiving his education, he opened his own salon on Melrose Avenue, serving numerous celebrity clients including Sally Field, Carrie Fisher, and Gene Hackman.

In 1993, with his children’s best interest in mind,  Mr. Sato decided to relocate to Kansas City to offer his two sons a better education and home life away from busy LA. His decision to do so would have an incredible influence on the Kansas City Cosmetology scene, as he quickly established himself as a master Sassoon stylist.  After working for a short time on the Plaza, he again opened his own salon in Overland Park. Mitsu Sato Salon has been voted “Best Salon in Kansas City” twice!

It wasn’t long before Mr. Sato decided to make his biggest impact on the Kansas City Cosmetology industry, by choosing to open his own Cosmetology School, allowing him to pass on his masterful knowledge to the next generation of hair stylists.  After assembling a team of Kansas City’s most promising educators, Mitsu Sato Hair academy opened it’s doors in 2007. The quest to produce the most well prepared, skilled, and well rounded cosmetology graduates had begun. Today Mitsu Sato Hair Academy continues to be one of the midwest’s best cosmetology schools, offering a one of a kind education experience,  training students in the world renowned Vidal Sassoon cutting and coloring method.
