Hayley Darpel is a 2012 graduate of MitsuSatoHairAcademy. Cosmetology is something she has always had a passion
for, and she wanted to attend school immediately after high school. However, at the recommendation of her parents, she attended K-State and obtained her bachelor’s degree. During the summer before she was to attend graduate school, she couldn’t shake need to follow her dream and true passion of becoming a stylist. So, she visited a few cosmetology schools in the industry, and once she stepped into MitsuSatoHairAcademy she was hooked!
Hayley was immediately drawn to the urban feel of the school. She said she loved the fact that even though students were supervised, they still had the freedom to create…they were urged to become artists, using hair and skin as their medium. She also loved that Mitsu was at school everyday. Whether he was teaching in the classroom or supervising on the floor or working in the salon, he was there, working everyday to help the students become the best they could be.
Attending MSHA has more than prepared Hayley for a career in the beauty industry. She felt as though she walked away with much more skill and knowledge than graduates from other schools. Not only did she learn the basic coloring and cutting techniques, but Mitsu and his staff took it further and also taught the advanced coloring and cutting techniques. She was so well prepared that when she was hired at Ulta Beauty, she was able to skip the apprenticeship and step right behind the chair to start taking clients. During her time at MSHA, Hayley was kept up to date on the current and ever-changing trends, and Mitsu did an amazing job of opening doors to opportunities greater than she ever imagined. He exposed students to Learning Advisors from all over the nation and also provided opportunities to work backstage at various fashion shows.
As far as her favorite part of being a stylist? She loves all of it! She loves having the opportunity to create every single day. Every day is new and different, and with the ever-changing trends in fashion and beauty there is never a dull moment. She has found her niche and loves being an artist that help her clients look and feel their best!
When asked what advice she had to give upcoming graduates? Hayley said, “It’s up to you where you go! Get out there and work hard! Don’t depend on anyone
to make your dreams happen! You have been given the tools, now make it
